Artist Bio
Founder, CEO, Artistic Director and Performer, Jamie is a wildly magnetic multi-disciplinary artist and creator spanning all things acrobatics, clowning, manipulation, music – and so much more!
Cleverly blending the vaudevillian traditions of clowning from the early 1900s sideshow era, with cutting-edge contemporary circus culture, his specialties include a unique concoction of Clowning, Mime, Hat Juggling, Adagio and Hand-to-Hand. As if that wasn’t enough, Jamie is also a gifted musician, having mastered more than five different instruments – and counting!
Jamie’s entire existence is fuelled by a mission to spread joy and laughter throughout the globe, making every day seem extraordinary. A true lover of movement in all its artforms, in addition to his work as a professional cirque artist he is also an avid swing dancer; highly engaged in Melbourne’s swing dance community.
A graduate of Circo Arts in New Zealand and the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) in Australia, today, Jamie is a highly regarded industry professional both nationally and internationally, having taken his career to the exciting corners of the world including the U.K, Hong Kong, China, Europe, USA, Southeast Asia and Asia Pacific. He has performed at the world’s most significant festival circuits, including: Sydney Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, Keifang Clown Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Arts Centre Melbourne.
More than a powerhouse performer, as a director, Jamie has worked for Madhouse Circus, Head First Acrobats, Lost in Translation Circus (UK) Dummies Corp and consulted and mentored numerous emerging Australian companies. He co-founded Dummies Corp with fellow artists Jack and Simon – of which he is currently CEO and Artistic Director – and also performs as an ongoing cast member in the company’s show Splash Test Dummies.
