A Giant Duck Wins Gasworks Circus Showdown 2019
‘Twas a giant duck that won the 2019 Gasworks Circus Showdown on the weekend. Well, a giant duck and two talented circus performers, Jack William Wilde and Shona Conacher.
Gasworks Arts Park’s Circus Showdown was spectacular as always this year, with a diverse range of talent including various NICA students and graduates.
Our congratulations to Jack William Wilde and Shona Conacher for taking out the top gong. They presented Jack Wilde’s Glittery SH!TSHOW to a packed audience and generated many a hearty belly laugh, delivering moments ranging from the giant yellow duck taking to the stage, to their hilarious and naughty physical comedy, plus plenty of impressive circus skills in between. Jack is a 2017 NICA graduate who is known for a high level of showmanship in all of his work and he did not let us down at Showdown!
Second prize went to Borderline_Russian_Bar and we must say we look forward to seeing the work evolve in the NICA space (they won the NICA prize which was 50 hours of open training). Borderline delivered some heart-stopping Russian Bar in their fun and light hearted act.
It was our pleasure as always to support this valuable event. Our congratulations to Gasworks as always for providing this platform, which has catapaulted many a circus artist forward in their careers.
