NICA takes part in ARTS8 Transformation project
The Arts8 Transformation project was hosted by AFTRS and NIDA and involved two students and one staff member from each of the eight elite arts training organisations travelling to Sydney. They spent three days together devising work and exploring an exchange of each art form with the aim of producing a short work at the end of the project. Musicians, circus artists, actors, comics, gymnasts, dancers, designers, film-makers and writers worked together in a unique ‘company’, demonstrating a shared vision; complex and abstract thinking brought to bear through collaborative creative arts practice. The final presentation was largely improvised and demonstrated the amazing power of the creative arts to connect people in astonishing ways.
All involved gained significant insight from the experience and this will be a continuing collaborative project into the future. Participants Zebastian Hunter (staff) and students Nelson Smyles and Amanda Lee represented NICA superbly and all felt that it was an incredible event.
